Who is eligible for MSME / Udyam registration?

Any manufacturing or service enterprise meeting the thresholds: Micro (investment ≤ ₹1 cr, turnover ≤ ₹5 cr), Small (≤ ₹10 cr / ₹50 cr), Medium (≤ ₹50 cr / ₹250 cr).

Is Udyam registration free?

What is Section 43B(h) of the Income Tax Act?

Effective from FY 2023-24, any buyer must pay a registered MSME within 45 days (or 15 days without a written agreement). Failure to do so means the buyer cannot claim that expense as a tax deduction until payment is made.

Do I need GST to register as MSME?

GST is not mandatory if your turnover is below the GST threshold. For turnover above the threshold, GSTIN is required for Udyam.

How long does Udyam registration take?

Typically 1–2 working days once Aadhaar is verified and business details are provided.

Is the Udyam certificate valid for life?

Yes, the Udyam Registration Certificate is valid for a lifetime; however, you must self-declare turnover and investment figures annually to stay classified correctly.
